Payers and pharmaceutical developers both use real world evidence, but in different ways. We describe an approach to collaboratively develop real world evidence so that it can be a useful component of drug coverage decision-making.

Payers and pharmaceutical developers have different perspectives on real-world evidence. A common framework can serve as a starting point for discussions and collaborations.

Perspectives

Other organizations and publications address the methodological challenges of developing RWE; some recommend standards and best-practice; others have guidelines that are forthcoming. We offer a practical perspective that we hope will foster mutual understanding and collaboration.
