What is it about?

I discuss the findings of Dr. Julie Ishida and her colleagues regarding the potential adverse effects of opioid analgesic usage in the in-center hemodialysis population and compare those findings with my experience as a dialysis patient.

Why is it important?

Pain in the in-center hemodialysis setting should be discussed rather than just treated because opioids may not be the best prescription.

Perspectives

While I can count the times I used painkillers as a dialysis patient on one hand, I know that many of my fellow kidney warriors use painkillers more often. I feel that highlighting the findings of Dr. Ishida and her colleagues is very important and that these findings warrant further discussion.
