What is it about?

Little is known about the effects of neighborhood socioeconomic status on outcomes for pediatric kidney transplant patients. We found that children living in neighborhoods of low socioeconomic status had a greater risk of losing their transplant, were less likely to receive a transplant from a living donor (a preferred method of transplant), and more likely to be on dialysis prior to transplant. Efforts to identify and address the causes of these inequities are needed.
