What is it about?
Common mnemonics used to recall causes of a high anion gap metabolic acidosis are helpful. However, these mnemonics do not include other causes of a high anion gap metabolic acidosis that clinicians may encounter. We present a case in which an alternative mnemonic, CUTE DIMPLES, was used to help identify the cause of a high anion gap in a patient with low total CO2.
