What is it about?
Clinical reasoning failures are a primary cause of diagnostic error. Deficits in clinical reasoning are common among graduate medical learners, including nephrology fellows._x000D_ _x000D_ We developed a novel tool for the formative assessment of clinical reasoning in nephrology fellows. We provide validity evidence for its use to identify fellows who struggle with clinical reasoning and offer a guide to targeted remediation of clinical reasoning skills._x000D_ _x000D_ In cohort of nephrology fellows, we show that reasoning deficits are highly prevalent using our assessment tool, highlighting an unmet need to improve our fellows’ clinical reasoning and prevent diagnostic errors. _x000D_ _x000D_
