What is it about?

Qureshi et al’s work from the North American Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter Registry shows that intraabdominal adhesions present an increased risk for catheter-related complications, but this risk should be viewed as manageable and modifiable. Many patients with adhesions can still benefit from peritoneal dialysis without complications. Careful management of patient expectations and close nephrologist-surgeon collaboration will enable better outcomes. Continued large-scale studies and further innovation are needed to promote ever-better patient care.
