What is it about?
Treatment of high blood pressure typically involves medications in the form of pills that need to be taken once daily or more frequently. Using a novel RNA technology, investigators have found a way to deliver a medicine for blood pressure that can be given by injection once every 6 months. In this perspective, we trace the history of front-line medications for hypertension, the results using this new semi-annual novel injection medicine, and place this new therapy in the context of conventional medications currently used in clinical practice.
