What is it about?
This is the study design for Bruce Baskerville's test of a mobile phone app as a smoking cessation intervention. This is a great paper, as it described a randomized controlled trial for a software application. The software implements some really interesting behaviour change techniques.

Why is it important?
Beginning to test software interventions as medical interventions is very interesting. How should we be testing these? What kinds of outcomes can be expected from "an app"?
Perspectives
Seriously this was led by Bruce and Laura. I did some guidance on testing the usability of the app. Thought this was a very significant study though, well constructed. This application is also about behavior change in a tough context.
