Why is it important?
Ensuring the effectiveness of digital self-management services is critical for promoting equitable healthcare access and improving patient outcomes. Without adequate digital literacy and personalized, user-centered design, these technologies risk excluding vulnerable populations and limiting patient engagement, which is essential for successful self-care and long-term health management
Perspectives
From my experience in clinical practice, I have seen how digital tools can empower patients—when they are designed with users in mind. Working with older adults, I’ve observed that digital literacy is often a barrier, making tailored training essential for meaningful engagement. As a researcher in person-centered care, I believe that digital health must evolve beyond accessibility to truly support individual needs and capabilities
