What is it about?

Public participation is easy to say but hard to be implemented genuinely in local government programs/projects, more so in developing countries. One needs a framework/checklist to assess it from time to time. Therefore, this article tried to provide a framework to assess the participation process, through the case of Petaling Jaya smart city, Malaysia.

Why is it important?

The framework is easy to be used by general citizens/ users. To check whether the participation process is genuine or not, one can follow the simple designated citizen's perspective questions or use the attribute of participation as a checklist.

Perspectives

I hope this article could clear doubts on those eager to seek authentic participation in local government projects/ programs. One definitely needs a written checklist to deal with the officers and political council members. Try it out and feedback to me! Thank you.
