What is it about?

The fight against drug trafficking has been a matter of great controversy regarding the evaluation of the strategy. A spectrum of new scenarios has been configured where the phenomenon reaches new and deeper structural dimensions that have led the Colombian State to rethink the strategic designs to mitigate its impact. After the end of traditional cartels in the country, a space opens up for the appearance of complex actors, traffic methodologies and sophistication in production and distribution. In effect, the professionalization of criminal groups and the strategic synergy between them unfolded in an overwhelming manner a complexity in the face of State security, bringing with it a high level of technology in the use of new and sophisticated weapons, putting intermestic security in check. However, the efforts of conventional security operators to eliminate the narcotrafficking threat are overshadowed by the marginal law of diminishing returns in military plans to arrive at a general approach that by armed means only drug trafficking can be contained. mutated, but not take it to its minimum expression.
