What is it about?

The survival rate of children suffering from cancer has increased, but collateral effects have been observed. The results of the study presented confirm that language problems were present at phonological, lexical-semantic, structural or syntactic, pragmatic and non-verbal levels.

Why is it important?

Children diagnosed with cancer required special school-based attention to help them overcome language and cognitive problems produced by, among others, cancer treatments. School staff and families need to be aware of their children potential difficulties and needs.
