What is it about?
The chapter starts by defining each of the disorders to give the reader a foundational understanding of the specific conditions. The chapter then delves into clinical management including medical and non-medical. There is a specific focus on evidence based psychosocial interventions that are used for these specific populations.

Why is it important?
Anxiety and mood disorders are very common in our society and developing an understanding of these conditions is a must for all health professionals. Every health professional will come across people who have or who are recovering from these conditions despite the setting they are working in. Having a working knowledge of how to recognise and help people recover from these conditions is of paramount importance. Some people may want to gain an understanding of these conditions so they can help themselves.
Perspectives
Writing this chapter made me realize how import knowledge is and how powerful self-help can be. Health professionals have a huge role to play in empowering people with anxiety and mood disorders to help themselves.
