What is it about?

The plant has long been used to treat varicose veins, dysmenorrhea, biliary tract disorders, and liver tonicity. Silychristin, silybin A, silybin B, isosilybin A, isosilybin B, and other flavonolignans including neosilyhermin, silyhermin, and silydianin are the main bioactive components of silymarin. It is the most widely accepted and safe natural substance for the treatment of hepatic disorders, including jaundice, liver cirrhosis, and chronic viral hepatitis, because of its cytoprotective anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic effect.
