What is it about?
in case of below knee amputation surgery, regional anaesthesia of the limb through injecting local anaesthetics along the sciatic nerve can be done via many approaches, in this study we compare providing Regional anaesthesia to the amputated limb either through a popliteal or a sub gluteal approach

Why is it important?
regional anaesthesia will avoid the complications associated with general anaesthesia in emergency cases and in patients with multiple diseases. moreover providing anaesthesia to the amputated limb will provide a long pain free period that may last up to 20 hours after the operation. in this study we concluded that regional anaesthesia of the sciatic nerve at the popliteal region is easier to be performed with a high success rate and effective analgesia
