What is it about?
In this work, Solution casting technique is used to develop solid flexible polymer electrolytes based on P(VDF-HFP), NaSCN and ionic liquid are developed and implemented in EDLC supercapacitor as main promoting material for improving the performance of EDLC supercapacitor. In fact, P(VDF-HFP) is used as polymer host, NaSCN as stabilizer and ionic liquid ([EMIM][TCM]as either as additive material or as plasticizer to enhance the conductivity of the electrolyte

Why is it important?
This is important for facilitating the ion transport in the polymer electrolyte which increases the conductivity due to both the flexibility and amorphicity of the electrolyte films. Solid character of this polymer electrolytes aids them to be operating at high temperatures in supercapacitor. The good electrochemical and thermal properties of polymer electrolytes significantly contribute to better performance of energy storage device.
Perspectives
As main perspectives of this work, the outcomes obtained in this work could be improved with addition of some plasticizers ( nanofillers) in order to increase the Flexibility, Extensibility and Processability in this system. Plasticizers reduce the melting point and glass transition temperature. Polymer electrolytes will be better improved in flowing and thermoplasticity which contribute to increase the performance of EDLC supercapacitor.
