What is it about?

Participation of patients from the Middle East in testing of new drugs lags far behind participation in drug consumption

Featured Image

Why is it important?

Drugs sold and consumed by patients in the Middle East have not been adequately tested on populations with similar genetic and cultural profile

Perspectives

Our paper demonstrates that patients in the Middle East are consuming medications in development of which patients from the Middle East region (sharing similar genetic and cultural profile) have not participated. This presents an ethical dilemma to the pharma industry, medical institutions, and the governments of countries in the Middle East.
