What is it about?

Now days, nanosuspension is a growing approach for pharmaceutical product development due to several unique properties applicable in pharmaceutical field. This article reviews the physical and chemical stability of nanosuspension and their mechanism. There are many factors which affect the stability of nanosuspension. Some common factors responsible for nanosuspension instability and few significant strategies used to overcome the stability problem are also discussed.

Why is it important?

The stability problems related to drug nanosuspension still a very challenging issue in pharmaceutical field. Some problems may be moderately solved by using the stabilizers, but their screening and selection of stabilizers combination is also a challenge. The understanding of mechanism involved in interaction between the particles present in nanosuspension can facilitate the selection of suitable stabilizer and also their combination, furthermore it may produce a stable nanosuspension. Despite this some factors such as formulation factors, process factors, route of administration and nature of drug also play a significant role in stabilization of nanosuspension.

Perspectives

Till today, very little work has been done on self stabilized nanosuspension, so this field remains very complicated & challenging and demands a lot of research work in future.
