What is it about?

Because plasma can sustain strong electric and magnetic field, it is often expected to act as a novel accelerator. But such a plasma-based accelerator has a significant difference from conventional electrostatic accelerator, that is, the accelerating fields in such a plasma-based accelerator is usually electromagnetic, or difficult to be desirablly electrostatic.

Why is it important?

It points out that electrostatic plasma-based accelerator is hard to be achieved

Perspectives

To correctly understand related physics, especially plasma-based acceleration, more realistic theory based on electromagnetic, rather than electrostatic, plasma acceelrator should be studied.
