What is it about?

Sand is one of the efficient sources of Silicon. We get quite easily the plethora of sand from the Padma riverside, Bangladesh. Utilization of the superfluous sand can be assisted to enhance our economy.

Why is it important?

The conventional process is Environmentally detrimental. In this process huge Carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide is produced. This research work has been attempted to establish the process of Silicon extraction from the sand without any detrimental effect on the environment. Environmental pollution is one of the major problems of Global warming. The Process is environmentally friendly and low cost.

Perspectives

By this method we can extract silicon at a low cost, environmentally friendly and this silicon can be used to fabricate solar cells which may produce a huge amount of electricity without any hazard or detrimental effect on the environment. Due to this reason, we extracted silicon from sand. If we are successful to extract a better amount (%) of silicon extract from the sand of the river we might be able to help to develop a solar selective surface or panel that may use in the solar cell.
