What is it about?

Ocular response analyzer, which is a non-contact tonometer, is the first device capable of dynamic evaluation of the in vivo biomechanical properties of the cornea. The aim of this study was to investigate the differences in corneal biomechanic characteristics between the patients with and without type 2 Diabetes mellitus .

Why is it important?

The mean corneal hysteresis and corneal resistance factor values were found less in the diabetic group. A statistically significant difference was found between the diabetic and nondiabetic groups in terms of IOP parameters. Mean IOPcc and IOPg values were found high in the diabetic group. We believe that this will provide a base that will shed light on other work needs to be done.

Perspectives

We believe that this article will provide a base that will shed light on other work needs to be done and will get many citations mainly about DM and ORA results. We may only speculate or estimate for now as; it may be related with glucose level or something else and these changing may possible effect the elasticity of the cornea.
