What is it about?
Treatment of angular deformities is a demanding procedure. In order to be successful, a thorough planning and precise performing of the procedure is mandatory. The paper explains the theoretical bases of the technique, the measurements needed to plan the procedure, and the description of the surgical steps. Furthermore, a discussion of the clinical cases included highlights the peculiar aspect of the management, complications and their resolution.

Why is it important?
Though the technique has a steep learning curve, it's very powerful and is based on a particular concept, ie "distraction osteogenesis". This means that a progressive distraction between two stumps of the same bone will create a bone matrix called "regenerate" that eventually will have the same mechanical and biological properties of the parental bone. But, actually, it means creating new bone.
