What is it about?

The use of cell-penetrating peptides as drug delivery system along with doxorubicin is a strategy to reduce its side effects. We have shown that poly-L-arginine can increase the cytotoxicity and cellular uptake of doxorubicin in DU145 cells through induction of necrosis.

Why is it important?

Our finding shows that the use of poly-L-arginine maybe a strategy to overcome the side effects of doxorubicin by improving its therapeutic index through enhancing cellular uptake.

Perspectives

I hope this article encourages others to do some researches for improving the doxorubicin drug delivery system.
