What is it about?
Nitrate pollution in water and wastewater has become a serious global problem, endangering human health through nitrate-polluted drinking water and contributing to eutrophication. This review examines the removal of nitrate using various membrane processes such as electrodialysis, Donnan dialysis, and reverse osmosis and compares their performances.

Why is it important?
We have summarized the performance of membrane processes and their removal rates. It turns out that several parameters affect membrane performance and should be optimized for maximum removal rate.
Perspectives
Using membrane processes is a good alternative for a high nitrate removal rate. of nitrate. pressure-driven membrane processes and electro-membrane processes can be used for nitrate removal.
