What is it about?

LADA is an autoimmune disorder which is often misdiagnosed. Early diagnosis is essential in limiting disease progression and C-peptide levels and autoantibodies against β-cells are the most critical diagnostic biomarkers in LADA. Thus LADA is about misdiagnosis with T1DM and T2DM

Why is it important?

Our findings shows the essential biomarkers to diagnose LADA and to avoid confusion with other biomarkers and diabetes disease likE T1DM and T2DM. It supports the need to carry out further research in clinical prevalence to improvise the classification in clinical setting and do provide healthy lifestyle by avoiding more drugs and setting targeted approach for clinicians.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also lead to rare disease groups contacting me by physicians and ultimately to a greater involvement in rare disease research. I feel this article will highlight the importance of biomarkers discovery and essential to proper diagnosis and ultimately leading to targeted therapy. This will be economically helpful for patients and lead to better health outcome.
