Why is it important?
Frailty syndrome is prevalent among older people and a comprehensive approach to managing it has been shown to deliver good outcomes. This needs to be embedded into hospital care for vertebral fractures in older people.
Perspectives
We have identified a prevalent issue among older people with vertebral fractures. Our experience with hip fractures is that by tackling the acute fracture and prevailing frailty among these group of patients, clinical outcomes were much improved.
