Why is it important?

Histoplasmosis in an important pathogen in the world and have been associated with HIV (+) and HIV (-) patients. Paracoccidioides is endemic in Latin American - It is 8th cause of death in Brazil among infectious diseases

Perspectives

Methods for diagnosis of systemic mycosis have changed in the past years, different new species were described recently. Serological test, proteomics and molecular tests are highlighted in this review.
