What is it about?
Cinnarizine, has a short half life of 3-4 h and a very low bioavailability with a wide interanimal variation is observed after oral administration. To overcome this problem we developed mucoadhesive microspheres utilizing quality by design approach having improved bioavailability. The were found to be safe and effective with the benefit of gastro retentive drug delivery system.

Why is it important?
Polymethacrylate polymer have poor mucoadhesive properties. However, it has good microsphere making attribute. We developed iron oxide induced polymethacrylates and prepared mucoadhesive microspheres loaded with cinnarazine.
Perspectives
Writing this article is a wonderful experience as the finding obtained are very encouraging and we hope for its industrial uptake.
