What is it about?

The developed hybrid modality has characteristic of Sendai viral membrane of delivering the payload through membrane fusion but the targeting ability is controlled by scFv. The research shows that this hybrid modality can escape intrinsic endosomal pathway of drug delivery by antibody.

Why is it important?

The research shows membrane fusion mediated cytosolic delivery of the payload as a major pathway of cellular internalization and the specificity is governed by scFv.

Perspectives

The research shows a strategy to avoid endosomal degradation of macromolecules ( therapeutic protein/ DNA etc.) maintaining specificity to cancer cells expressing antigen on the cell surface.
