What is it about?

Bentham journals typically introduce editors and advisory board members via short, editorial-length capsules.

Why is it important?

Statements of professional interests by editorial staff of journals have a way of helping to foster paper submissions, under the general philosophy that authors publishing on topics overlapping known interests of editors will fare better than those for which there is no obvious advocacy.

Perspectives

Many people use such spaces to reiterate simple (dry) biographical sketches, but I generally try to rewrite mine every time I get a request, and do so in a way that illustrates 'something' other than just the person. It could be an expression of the science, or it could be a brief perspective on some aspect of 'life'. There is, after all, plenty of room for creative expression, even in nonfiction.
