What is it about?

Herein we reviewed known functions of type II thioesterases (TEIIs), including editing function, choosing function, releasing function, multiple functions, and complementation of TEIIs.

Why is it important?

Many polyketides show biological activities and have thus been applied in clinics, as food additives, and in agriculture. Type II thioesterases (TEIIs) play an important role in polyketide biosynthesis. Review of TEIIs will help us to bio-engineer polyketide biosynthesis.

Perspectives

I systematically organized my knowledge about natural product biosynthesis by writing this article.
