What is it about?
As in every country, the nursing shortage crisis is deepening in Bulgaria. We have systematized the main reasons for this - an aging population and the growing need for healthcare services, a constantly growing number of medical institutions, the average age of nurses, the "career - family" dilemma, aggression towards healthcare workers, lack of standards for good nursing practice, lack of interest in the profession among young people.

Perspectives
Writing this article was a great challenge for us as university professors. This article also led to a better awareness of the problem among the medical profession and society at large.
