What is it about?
Ultrasound examination of the left adrenal gland is generally associated with relatively low sensitivity and specificity and is strongly influenced by the operator’s experience, patient characteristic, and the type of equipment available. The improvement in the diagnostic sensitivity of ultrasound may allow for the use of this technique in selected categories of patients, particularly in the remote monitoring already known adrenal pathologie.

Why is it important?
This new ultrasound approach is unique because for the first time there is the possibility to better identify an abdominal viscera ( left adrenal lodge) in its topographic location, thus improving the US exploitability of the left adrenal gland. Then this approach wants to emphasize the role of ultrasound vascular landmarks.
Perspectives
New US approach will become more and more useful in the future both for the diagnosis and the follow-up of disease reducing both the radiation exposure and health care costs.
