What is it about?
This exploratory study examined whether serum miR-210, a microRNA linked to hypoxia and physiological adaptation, could help distinguish individual responses to exercise training. Ten young adults completed standardized exercise training, and machine learning models were used to classify high and low miR-210 expression based on age and training frequency.

Why is it important?
People do not respond to exercise training in the same way. Identifying biological markers that reflect individual adaptation could support more personalized exercise programs in the future. In this study, machine learning models classified miR-210 expression with up to 90% accuracy, suggesting that combining molecular biomarkers with artificial intelligence may help improve understanding of individual training responses.
Perspectives
This work represents an early step toward personalized exercise prescription based on molecular responses. Although the findings are preliminary because of the small sample size, they highlight the potential of integrating circulating microRNAs with machine learning to explore why individuals respond differently to the same training stimulus. Larger studies are needed to confirm the predictive value of miR-210.
