What is it about?

"The First Mariners" is about a series of maritime experiments trying to establish how it was possible for very early humans to cross the open seas in specific parts of the world. It describes these archaeological replication experiments in easily accessible language and provides numerous illustrations.

Why is it important?

Technological solutions provide the best evidence for human abilities in the very distant past, and a measure of their cognitive and cultural development through time. The evidence presented in this volume offers a measure of human capabilities hundreds of thousands of years ago.

Perspectives

I hope this book raises interest in how early humans developed through time and how they became what they are today.
