Sublingual tablet of timolol maleate

What is it about?

We know that for the management of hypertension/angina in emergency particularly in elderly and patients with swallowing difficulties, and in situations where potable liquids are not available .In such case patients needs rapid onset of action of drug and it is possible via sub lingual route because thin sublingual mucosa have dense network of blood capillaries allow excellent drug penetration (absorption) to achieve high plasma drug concentration with a rapid onset of action

Why is it important?

We develop and optimize sublingual tablet which is disintegrated within 31 seconds only. So it is very important aspect regarding attainment of drug concentration in plasma for giving desired pharmacological action within short period of time.
