What is it about?

BLAST search allows us to find similar protein sequences for a given protein. SimExact allows to serach proteins having similar functions to given protein in an efficient way.

Why is it important?

If existing semantic similarity methods are used, searching for similar proteins from a large database would take longer time, making it practically not possible. SimExact makes it possible in reasonable time (few seconds).

Perspectives

During experimentation, I found some thing interesting in Gene Ontology and protein annotations. Based on that, I proposed this method for fast searching the related proteins. This can lead to do unique analyses, which were not possible before.
