What is it about?
Gelatin produced from fish processing by-product is the most potential alternative source of gelatin. They have biological activities, particularly antioxidant, antihypertensive, and reduce type 2 diabetic risk. This paper reviews the mechanisms of fish gelatin hydrolysates for those human diseases based on recent publications

Why is it important?
This paper explains the firm mechanisms of gelatin hydrolysates from fish processing by-product as antioxidant, antihypertensive and reduce type 2 diabetic risk. In addition, this review also emphasizes sites or molecules that being target of gelatin hydrolysates activities, thus, facilitating the development of current researches on fish-based gelatin for functional food and medicine substances.
Perspectives
Therefore, this paper specifically outlines the mechanism of gelatin from fish processing by-product for human health by incorporation of the previous studies, theories, results and discussions. The aim of this prospective is to conclude previous researches, postulates and theories regarding the mechanism of fish waste toward health
