What is it about?
Synthesis of aminoalkyl iodides from the corresponding aminols were demonstrated under sonication reaction with diphosphorus tetraiodide (P2I4) in CS2. Further, the utilization of the alkyl iodides to aminoalkyl thiols was established. The latter compounds serve as building blocks for many heterocycles and other drug candidates. The ultrasonication medium works effectively for all the intermediates preparation; the conditions are mild, and yields are almost quantitative in all steps.

Perspectives
This publication serves the chemists to find the alternative and easy route for the incorporation of iodo group at the -COOH terminus under simple conditions and thus can be converted to various other functional groups for the multistep organic synthesis.
