What is it about?
This article focuses on the referral patterns and clinical manifestations of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in pediatric patients at Al Jalila Children Specialty Hospital. Conducting a retrospective descriptive study, the researchers analyze the referral documents and patient medical records within a specific timeframe to determine trends in the referrals as well as clinical characteristics identified by primary physicians and general pediatricians amongst outpatients in their respective clinics. This study analyses various variables broken down in categories, prevalent symptoms prompting referrals based on the patients' clinical features, and adherence to diagnostic criteria (NICE guidelines) later assessed by Neurodevelopment specialists.
