Why is it important?
To address the surface water quality woes in the rapidly growing and emerging cities. Recently the focus of the state and non-state actors is slowly shifting towards decentralised wastewater management solutions. Many organisations and start-ups have demonstrated the applicability of low cost decentralised green infrastructure in flood control, and treatment of urban runoff in open storm drains (El Hattab and Mijic, 2019).
