What is it about?

Help to understand how to control the initial pH values for later optimization of algal growth and lipid production from the view of the acidic-alkaline balance ability of microalgae

Why is it important?

It supplies the point of view to reconsider about how microalgae regulate the system acid-alkaine balance during lipid accumulation. Based on the analysis of akalinity and pH values, the high oil-producing Chlorella was in-depth explored and the optimal pH value should be control under pH 7 for great nutrient removal and appropriate lipid/TAGs accumulation.

Perspectives

pH value is always an indice important for all the cultivation process. Here, as to the oil-producing microalga Chlorella sp. HQ, the changing pH during cultivation was observed but the focus is done on the initial pH values later. We found how to control the initial pH values is also very crucial for the last success of enough lipid accumulation and nutrient removal.
