What is it about?
Arsenic is a hazardous pollutant which exists in surface and well water resources. Arsenic removal is a tedious and expensive job and many researchers are looking for to find a cheap, easy and regenerate technique to separate from surface water with no more chemical additives and process complexity. In this work, we modified montmorillonite (clay) using amino acids and could successfully separate Arsenic from surface water. More interesting, our developed method enjoy using a regenerable micro porous membrane embedded by di-cationic surfactant.

Why is it important?
Our prepared membrane was recoverable and and re-usable for more than at least 10 times while its performance was recovered using a simple rinsing method.
Perspectives
It was very interesting to prepare a recoverable membrane to remove one of the most dangerous hazardous pollutant; Arsenic, from surface water. We hope this work open a new scene for developing companies and attracts start ups for scaling up.
