We use a modeling software name DEMkit to find out how much batteries are needed when using solar pv to power a 100% off-grid decentralized compact wastewater unit. In this research we use real data of electricity of two wastewater units located in the Netherlands

This is important because many wastewater unit plants in rural areas suffer shut downs and in some cases rural areas do not have electricity at all. For this it is important to find out if renewable energies are capable of supply the electricity needs of a wastewater treatment plant when there is not grid present or inestable
