What is it about?

The paper presents the use of activity of phosphatases as indicator for assessment of pollution and self-purification in different types of anthropogenic impacts in running waters.

Why is it important?

The role of phosphatase activities as an indicator is significant for impact assessment in running water at case of disinfection after treatment of wastewaters in treatment plant – the aquatic microbial community at the discharge point is suppressed but not at a functional level.

Perspectives

Our aim at writing this paper is to expand the possible application of enzyme activities as express functional indicators with high potential for differentiation of type and degree of organic pollution and for self-purification effectiveness.
