What is it about?

Wastewater use in irrigated urban vegetable production has a potential health risks to consumers. Additionally, handling from farm to markets could increase the level of contamination. This study traces the contamination pathway from farm to fork with the aim of identifying where interventions should be placed to minimize risks. It also identifies the risks groups along the pathway.

This study is important to safeguard the health of consumers of potentially contaminated vegetables from wastewater irrigation sources. This is very important in areas where polluted water is used for irrigation of vegetables that are likely to be consumed raw.
