What is it about?

The paper illustrates the adaptation of the Sanitation Safety Planning methodology to a case study in Tanzania. The methodology would support the planning of an improved sanitation system for a peri-urban ward in Iringa Municipality, with a health-protective perspective.

Why is it important?

The paper presents a case study in which the methodology was adapted to the specific context: there are few publications on this topic. The approach is quite recent since the manual was published by WHO in 2015.

Perspectives

I consider this work important for researchers, technicians and practitioners dealing with sanitation planning in low-income contexts, because it is one of the few examples showing hypothesis and methods used in the application of the methodology at ward level.
