What is it about?

Regionalisation is an important stage in regional flood frequency analysis (RFFA). Cluster analysis methods are an efficient type of techniques to perform regionalisation. We have examined some combinations of hard and fuzzy clustering techniques in order to perform regionalisation of Sefidroud basin.

Why is it important?

The results show that using some hard clustering algorithm (e.g. Watd's algorithm and SOFM) to initialize FCM can improve results of fuzzy clustering. Also, we have found a well-defined pattern of two homogeneous regions in Sefidroud basin.

Perspectives

We hope that this study can improve our insight about regionalisation methods and their effects on results of RFFA studies.
