Why is it important?

Water safety planning is now increasingly used by many countries. According to WHO, more than 90 countries in the world are applying water safety plans. A tool for evaluating water safety plans would be needed to determine compliance to the requirements of the regulatory agency.

Perspectives

The index model is a new tool that can facilitate the evaluation of water safety plans. It is flexible that any country can adopt. The tool can also highlight specific modules in a water safety plan that would need improvement.
