What is it about?

Most clinical studies had evaluated the efficacy of rhombic 3D plates incomparable with conventional double miniplates in the management of extracapsular subcondylar fractures from aspects of stability and density of bone at the fracture site. However, there are paucity of information assessing TMJ function and facial nerve affection after rhomboid 3 D plate fixation. Therefore, in the current study, we used the retromandibular approach and the main parameters studied were TMJ function and the facial nerve weakness.

Perspectives

3D-rhomboid plate had good functional TMJ and facial nerve outcomes in comparable to standard two miniplates in management of high subcondylar fracture.
